Why they're 3-window....

The rear quarter window is very large as a one-piece window and there was likely a problem in producing roll-down mechanisms for such a large window. (especially considering the time limitations of assembly-line production). Splitting the window in two with a smaller fixed window in back was an obvious solution. The business coupe had no rear seat from the factory, so with no rear passengers there was no 'need' for the rear windows to roll down,so they have a one-piece fixed window aft of the B-Pillar.
