Another thing that comes to mind. (I think you will proably be OK). I used a latter engine (69 440). Somewhere in the sixties, chrysler changed the sump slightly, it was moved foward. The latter pans require notching to clear the crossmember, or the easy way out, find an early 58 to at least 62 big block pan (I'm not sure when the pan change took place, some latter than 62 pans may work).
