I am from minnesota too, and just recently went through the process of getting a title. Its not that bad really, after licensing and surety bonds it was around $180. just go to to the dmv and get a statement of facts, take a picture of each side of the vehicle, left/right/front/back and attach them to the statement of facts and give them back to the dmv they will begin the processing in a month or two they will let you know if you need a surety bond or not. most banks can help you get one set up, most are required for 3 years. when the paper work is all processed you will get a title that says there is a surety bond attached. hope this helps, TONY.
