A while back I had some dents taken out of the gas tank on my 58 Plymouth. In the process they coated the tank. More recently I left the car sit for quite a while to rebuild the engine and the tank dried up on me since I foolishly didn't drain it when I took the vehicle out of service. I took the tank to a shop to have it cleaned out and they told me that there is nothing they can do that wouldn't create worse problems with the coating. So what are my options? Can I just rinse the tank out with gasoline a few times and use it or will it have to be replaced?
