That's why you always want to find a car that is as complete as you can find. Unless someone has already restified the car somewhere along the way (and there are good restifications and bad.....paint and tires do not constitute a restoration)all of these cars will need work. The upholstery, the engine and transmission, to name a few common areas. The amount of actual cancer and rust is a total unknown until you strip the finish completely. A good example of what can be underneath is the New Zealand 57 Plymouth undergoing restoration that is on the Fury World site. The owner had driven the car for around 12 years and never knew how bad the sheetmetal was until he took it down. But the car is essentially complete from the standpoint of trim and such. It's only a poor mans hobby IF you can do a lot of the work yourself, and IF the car is complete to begin with. And IF you aren't trying for a concours quality restoration. Mike
